    The Death of Orthodoxy

To have orthodox beliefs means that they are supported by the teaching of Jesus and the Bible, that is, that they are true. To have unorthodox beliefs means that they are very different from what Jesus and the Bible taught.

    Letting Our Light Shine

For Christians to let their light shine there are some things that they must 1) Avoid, 2) Attempt, and 3) Acclaim. Each should understand that he has an influence to use for good. Each Christian should be more cognizant of his example to others in both word and deed.

    Fifty Years of Bulletins

This is the fiftieth year that the congregation has published a bulletin according to the volume number on our header. That represents a tremendous amount of work accomplished, all of which will be counted as effort made for the kingdom of God. There’s no telling how much good the bulletin has done over the past fifty years, but I’m sure it is significant.

  • Oh, to Be Like Thee

This lesson will discuss the main points of the song “Oh, to Be Like Thee.” To be like Christ we must 1) sacrifice like Christ, 2) behave like Christ, 3) commit like Christ. Each person should have a good understanding of what they are singing in this song.

Loving Those Who Only Love Us?

In essence, what Jesus is telling us is that if we only love those who love us back, then we are no better than those we consider to be our enemies. The Pharisees despised both publicans and Gentiles, yet, their behavior was basically the same as theirs in their regard for their enemies. So, how could they show their enemies that they were any different than they were? They couldn’t! Jesus, however, calls us to a higher standard: loving others as God loves us. He even loves those who don’t love Him back. That is the kind of love that we must show for others.

    Rejoice in the Lord Always!

The Christian may rejoice always because of his 1) History, 2) Heart, 3) Hope. Each person should be able to recite Philippians 4:4 and say why his History, Heart and Hope give him reason to rejoice always! To encourage the brethren by showing why the Christian has much reason to rejoice.

  • How Can God Be Righteous? (Romans 3)

God is righteous because 1) He is faithful, 2) He is just, 3) Man is guilty, and 4) God justifies by faith in Jesus Christ. The hearer should be able to understand how God justifies the guilty sinner. The aim of this lesson is to learn the gist of Romans chapter three.

  • The Victorious are Blessed

    God’s People are Blessed!

What I want to emphasize about these blessings, however, is that they are only for faithful Christians! We should not lose sight of the significance of these expressions! If one is not a faithful Christian, he or she does not have these blessings. It is only for those who are faithful children of God. Ultimately, these are the only blessings that will matter. Are you blessed in Christ?

  • Did Jesus Condemn Homosexuality?

In Matthew 19:4-6, “And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” God wants marriage to consist of a man and a woman. What God has joined together, man is not permitted to put asunder without penalty. To say that homosexuality is permitted by God would be to do just that.

  • What was the Fate of Samuel’s Sons?

In 1 Samuel 8:1-3 we read about the sons of Samuel. “And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. Now the name of his first-born was Joel; and the name of his second, Abijah: they were judges in Beer-sheba. And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted justice.”

  • Evangelism Matters!

Evangelism matters because 1) The Devil is a liar, 2) Eternity is long, 3) Jesus was an evangelist, 4) God wants everyone to be in His church. Each person will understand the importance of evangelism and give reasons for it.

Who We See in the Pew

What we should see are people who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ with whom we want to have a full and complete relationship. That is what God sees through Christ Jesus, and it is only looking at one another from this perspective that we can be the body of believers that God wants us to be.

Be Married to Christ and Bear Fruit

Do you see yourself as married to Christ? Do you own Jesus as your husband? Years ago, evangelist Marshall Keeble encountered a woman who came to be baptized in her wedding dress. He asked her if she wanted to change before she was immersed. She answered that she wanted to marry Jesus in the same clothes that she married her husband. He baptized her, wedding dress and all because she understood what she was doing.

    People Matter

People matter because 1) they were made in the image of God, 2) Jesus died on the cross for them, 3) they were created to live forever in eternity. Each hearer should understand why people matter to God and why they should matter to us also.
