What is Freedom?
What does it mean to be free? Some say that freedom is being able to do anything with no limits. I do not subscribe to that definition because, if followed […]
Jesus knew that fear was a great problem for God’s people. In the accounts of the gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John), Jesus warns against “fear” or “being afraid” at least […]
In this lesson we look at some practical lessons from David’s sin with Bathsheba. We want to understand what characterizes sin and to know when we are involved in it.
We need to cut out the worldly activities and get more in touch with our brothers and sisters in Christ, attend more church events, and put spiritual talk into our family life.
Honorable work 1) Prevents Laziness, 2) Provides for the Needs of Others, 3) Protects from Accusation, 4) Produces Good Works. Each hearer should be able to explain to others why it is an honorable thing to work.
In this lesson, we will look at Matthew 25:35, 36 as a guide for caring for others. This passage indicates that we should care for others by providing for their 1) Nourishment, 2) Shelter, 3) Clothing, 4) Comfort, and 5) Companionship. We must understand what it means to care about other people. Jesus said that this was key to eternal life.
A Mother’s advice is: 1) learn what it means to be principled, 2) listen to your mother and grandmother, 3) treasure every moment you have. This lesson is designed to teach and encourage our youth to live lives of wisdom as advised by mothers.
Faithful families create the ideal environment in which to rear children because they will have stability from 1) Parents, 2) the Church, and 3) Morality. God’s ways produce the best results for faithful families.
It matters what we believe because 1) Beliefs Produce Actions, 2) Actions Result in Consequences, 3) Happiness Results. Each should be concerned with believing the right things and understanding how not believing the right things is detrimental to our spiritual welfare.
In this study, we will look at different kinds of risks that Christians must take to be Christians. There is the risk of 1) Leaving the ones we love, 2) financial loss, 3) our life and health, 4) public rejection and failure. Each Christian should know what kind of risks he or she faces each day in living the Christian life and be prepared to handle those risks understanding that while there may be "risks" while we are upon the earth, the outcome is guaranteed. I want to spur the brethren on toward taking more risks in these areas because the greater risk one takes the greater reward that is associated with the risk.
There are not many actions that we can take that will have an eternal impact, because so much of what we do concerns the mundane. However, we should take advantage of every opportunity to be involved in spiritual events because we are affecting matters of eternal importance! Will you invite your friends to our gospel meeting this week? Will you attend the gospel meeting this week? Some soul out there may say in eternity, “The most significant event in my life was when I was invited to the gospel meeting at the church of Christ.”
If I were a rich man, I would recognize, 1) my relationship with God regarding wealth, 2) the reasons God has given for wealth, 3) the problems associated with wealth. The hearer should be able to understand their responsibilities and attitudes toward wealth. I want everyone to have a proper, healthy, and reverent attitude toward the teaching within God's word regarding wealth.
While there are some things that we want to do that we haven’t been doing, we need to continue to do some good things that we have been doing too!
