I.   Our Soul (129-131)

1. My will (129)

1) We must keep God’s words because they are wonderful.

2) “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).

3) “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1 John 2:3-4)

2. My Intellect (130)

1) God’s word gives understanding!

2) “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3).

3) “but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2 Tim.1:10).

3. My Emotions (131)

1) The Psalmist uses language to describe deep desire.

2) The pinnacle of our emotions is love.

3) Matthew 22:37-40

II.  The Problem of Sin (132-134)

1. Mercy for My Sins (132)

1) We all need mercy, and God is customarily merciful to those who love His name.

2) “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5).

3) “keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude 1:21).

2. Preventing Future Sins (133)

1) We prevent sin by following God’s direction.

2) “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You” (119:11).

3) “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word” (119:9).

3. Handling the Sins of Others (134)

1) God redeems us from the oppression of man’s sins.

2) How? Following the golden rule: Matthew 7:12.

3) We must love and forgive others: Matthew 6:14-15.

III. Our Attitude (135-136)

1. Toward God (135)

1) We want God’s face to shine on us.

2) This means having God’s blessing in our lives.

3) ““The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”’” (Numbers 6:24-26).

4) Ephesians 1:3

2. Toward Sinners (136)

1) We should be sad for the sins of others.

2) “Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’” (Ezekiel 33:11).

3) “And Paul said, “I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.”” (Acts 26:29).
