    Who is God?

In this lesson, we will look at the identity of God as revealed in scripture. He is 1) The Eternal One, 2) The Creator, 3) The Redeemer. Each should understand who God is in relationship to the creation and our salvation and to impress upon each one the sovereignty and divinity of God.

    Is Ezekiel 28 Discussing Satan?

This is highly figurative language and as such we should be careful only to interpret it in light of clear biblical teaching.  Verses 1 and 11 are clear that this is speaking regarding the king of Tyre.  In the absence of another clear Biblical teaching regarding Satan's fall, it would be a very unwise course of action fraught with questionable hermeneutics to declare this scripture as a description of the fall of Satan.

  • “I Need Thee Every Hour”

In this lesson, we will look at the song, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and study how we need God 1) for peace, 2) for help with temptation, 3) in the good times and the bad. “Just As I Am”

Jesus bids us 1) Come to Him, 2) Be Clean from Sin, 3) Confide in Him, 4) Cling to Him. In this lesson, we will think about the words to the song “Just As I Am.” We will think about how Jesus desires us to be saved and our response to His invitation. Would you Please Explain Romans 4:15 and 5:13?

Paul does not say there was no law in the day of Abraham or even before that. That is not his point at all.  He merely says that where there is no law then there is no transgression.  What then is the point?  His point is that when God gave the promise to Abraham, that promise was given without law.  Hence that promise was made to Abraham upon the condition of faith, not upon the condition of law.

Each hearer should be able to understand what it takes to be a friend of God. I want everyone to be motivated to make God their friend.

Does God Give Us Faith Directly?

God has supplied for us His word with all the things in it that we need to believe and know saving truth.  When we know and believe these God-given truths, then we have faith in our life.  So, we develop our own personal faith from hearing God's word, understanding it, believing it, and applying it.  In that way, God is responsible for our faith because it is only through his word that we can have that faith; at the same time, we are responsible for accepting God's message and believing it.

Did Jesus Come to Bring Peace or a Sword?

The section of scripture with which we are concerned falls within the sundry warnings that Jesus is giving to his disciples regarding the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  Jesus words to them are basically this.  Don't expect that you will receive a warm welcome out of the unfaithful.  When you preach the gospel, people are going to become your enemies.  In this sense, Jesus' came to bring a sword.  The warning of Micah describing the unfaithful holds true here.  Even among families, there will be division.  This is the typical response of the unfaithful.
