Why Did Paul Say He Didn’t Come to Baptize?

We note that Paul's statement that Christ sent him not to baptize, didn't mean that Paul never baptized anyone. If it was the case that Paul wasn't supposed to baptize anyone, then he wouldn't have baptized Crispus and Gaius who he directly states in the context that he did indeed baptize. So the passage couldn't mean that Christ didn't send Paul to baptize at all.

What does the Bible say about baptism?

In Mark 16:15, 16, Jesus commanded the apostles to preach the gospel to every creature. Jesus said, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. He that believeth not shall be condemned." Notice that it takes both belief and baptism for salvation.  In Acts 2:38, the men and women who had crucified Jesus asked what they needed to do be saved, "Men and brethren what shall we do?" Peter responded, "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins." Baptism is said here to be "for the remission of your sins."

How should we pray for the Holy Spirit?

God the Father continues to give His Holy Spirit to those who ask. The question is, how do we ask? Do we ask with an obedient faith? Or do we ask out of a sense of selfish desire? If it is the former, then God certainly gives the Holy Spirit to those who believe and obey. If the latter, then God is not going to indulge a person’s fleshly desires.

Christian Unity is Based on Christian Teaching

Christian unity is based upon Christian teaching. We are united as Christians and without the teaching we are not Christians. This teaching is summarized in the list of seven “ones” in Ephesians 4:4-6. Each person should understand that for us to have unity as Christians we must adhere to the same standards of Christian teaching.

  • What is the First Resurrection? What is the Thousand Year Reign?

This means that the saints that reign with Christ for 1000 years are people who have been come into the likeness of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ; these are the saved. It is the saved that reign with Christ for 1000 years. Consider what Peter says in 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
