TITLE: Blessings of Salvation

SUBJECT: Salvation

PROPOSITION: In this lesson, we will look at four blessings of salvation 1) Remission of Sin, 2) Refreshing from the Lord, 3) Restoration of Fellowship, 4) Rejoicing in Heaven.

OBJECTIVE: To better understand and appreciate the spiritual blessings we have in Christ.

AIM: In understanding our blessings, we should be motivated to live responsibly.

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: Acts 3:26

2. About the Text:

1) Jesus Christ came to bless by providing forgiveness of sins.

2) “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17).

3) We have innumerable blessings in Christ.

4) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

5) Let’s take a look at four really great blessings.

3. Ref. to S, T, P, O, and A.

DISCUSSION:

I.   Remission of Sins.

1. Jesus provides it.

1) “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28).

2) “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God” (Hebrews 10:12).

2. We receive it at baptism.

1) “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).

2) “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” Acts 22:16

3. We enjoy it as Christians.

1) “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

2) “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

II.  Refreshing from the Lord

1. To be refreshed means to be renewed.

1) “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).

2) “It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.” (Exodus 31:17).

2. To be refreshed means to be encouraged.

1) “that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may be refreshed together with you” (Romans 15:32).

2) “For they refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore acknowledge such men” (1 Corinthians 16:18).

3. To be refreshed means to have joy.

1) “For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother” (Philemon 1:7).

2) “Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in the Lord” (Philemon 1:20).

III. Restoration of Fellowship

1. We have restoration of fellowship with God.

1) “that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).

2) “For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18).

2. We have restoration of fellowship with one another.

1) “and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity” (Ephesians 2:16).

2) “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

IV.  Rejoicing in Heaven and on Earth

1. In heaven.

1) “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:7).

2) “Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out in singing, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people, And will have mercy on His afflicted” (Isaiah 49:13).

2. In response to salvation.

1) “Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing” (Acts 8:39).

2) “And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 13:52).

3. In our great hope.

1) “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy.” (1 Thess.2:19-20).

2) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

1. We have great blessings of salvation!

1) Remission of Sins
