PROPOSITION: The victory of Christ means 1) The Praise and Worship of God, 2) Christ is the Conquering King, 3) The Defeat of the Beast and False Prophet.

OBJECTIVE: In this lesson, we will study Revelation 19 and learn about the victory of Christ.

AIM: That each Christian would lead his life victoriously knowing who has won the war.

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: 1 John 5:4 – “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

2. About the Text:

1) The word “overcome” is the verb form of the word “victory” in the Bible.

2) In the book of Revelation, the word “victory” is found only once in Revelation 15:2.

3) The word “overcome” is found 11 times. The Greek verb form is found 17 times.

4) It means to conquer, overcome, be victorious.

5) “These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14).

6) “He who overcomes (the victorious) shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son” (Revelation 21:7).

7) Faith is the victory.

8) “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).

9) Revelation 19 is the story of this victory.

DISCUSSION: The victory of Christ means . . .

I.   The Praise and Worship of God

1. For Judging the Great Harlot (v.1-4).

1) “Halleluiah!” Salvation, Glory, Honor, Power belong to the Lord our God.

2) True and Righteous are His judgments.

3) He has judged the great harlot.

4) He avenged on her the blood of His servants (Revelation 6:10).

5) Her smoke rises up forever. – “Halleluiah.”

6) The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures worshipped saying “Halleluiah.”

2. For the Marriage of the Lamb (v.5-10).

1) A voice came from the throne, “Praise our God . . . .”

2) The voice of a great multitude, “Halleluiah! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns.”

3) “The marriage of the Lamb has come.” (Matthew 22:1-13)

4) “His wife has made herself ready.” (Ephesians 5:26-27)

5) She is to be dressed in fine linen. (Psalm 45)

6) The fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (v.14)

7) “Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”

8) “These are the true sayings of God.”

9) John told not to worship the angel.

II.  Christ the Conquering King

1. White horse ridden by “Faithful and True.” (2 Timothy 2:13).

2. In righteousness He judges and makes war (John 12:48).

3. His eyes were like a flame of fire. (Revelation 1:14).

4. On his head were many crowns (Rev.14:14 – one crown, now many).

5. He had a name written that no one knew (Romans 11:33 – ways past finding out).

6. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood.

7. His name is called “The Word of God.” (John 1:1).

8. The armies in heaven clothed in fine linen followed him on white horses (v.8).

9. Out of his mouth went a sharp sword to strike the nations (Eph.6:17; Heb.4:12).

10. He will rule them with a rod of iron (Psalm 2).

11. He treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God (Isaiah 63:1-6).

12. He has on his robe and thigh a name written, “King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

III. The Defeat of the Beast, False Prophet, and his armies.

1. John saw an angel standing in the sun.

2. He said to all the birds, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God.”

3. John saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies.

4. They made war against Him who sat on the horse and his army. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)

5. The beast and the false prophet were captured.

6. They were cast alive into the lake of fire and brimstone.

7. The rest were killed with the sword from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse.
