TITLE: The Victorious are Blessed

PROPOSITION: In this lesson we will study the Seven Beatitudes of Revelation.

OBJECTIVE: The hearer should understand what it means to be blessed in Jesus.

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: Revelation 1:1-3

2. About the Text:

1) The book of Revelation is a book of victory.

2) Knowing that we are victorious enables Christian living.

3) There are Seven Beatitudes in the book of Revelation.

4) They teach us about Christian living.

DISCUSSION: The victorious are blessed…

I.   Blessed are those who read and hear.

1. Revelation 1:3 – “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.”

2. Matthew 7:24-27

3. 2 Timothy 2:15

II.  Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.

1. Revelation 14:13 – “And I heard a voice from heaven saying ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Blessed indeed,’ says the Spirit, ‘that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!’”

2. There is rest after death!

3. Hebrews 4:9-11

III. Blessed are the watching.

1. Revelation 16:15 “Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)”

2. 1 Thessalonians 5:2ff

IV.  Blessed are those invited.

1. Revelation 19:9 “And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

2. Matthew 11:28-30.

V.   Blessed are those who share in the first resurrection.

1. Revelation 20:6 – “Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.”

2. Colossians 2:11-13.

VI.  Blessed are those who keep the word.

1. Revelation 22:7 – “And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

2. John 14:15

VII. Blessed are those who wash their robes.

1. Revelation 22:14 – “Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.”

2. Revelation 7:14

CONCLUSION:

1. The victorious are blessed.
