Trip to Costa Rica

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature’” (Mark 16:15).

July 7th through 21st, I am scheduled to take a mission trip to Costa Rica. I have been planning this trip since early spring, and it is exciting that it is finally here. On this mission trip I will be teaching in a school of preaching located in the town of Coronado. The Coronado Church of Christ, located in the Central Valley of Costa Rica just outside the capital city of San Jose, hosts this school. This school, the Theological Institute of Costa Rica, is directed by a graduate of the Memphis School of Preaching and Freed-Hardeman University, Rafael Barrantes. He is a native Costa Rican who has spent many years in the United States and has just recently returned to direct this effort. My role in the school will be to teach the books of 1st and 2nd Thessalonians, and to teach a class about how to use electronic media to preach and teach the gospel. The class on 1st and 2nd Thessalonians will meet in the afternoon for 3 hours Monday through Friday for two weeks. The class on the use of electronic media will meet in the evenings. I will teach in English, and a translator will interpret into Spanish.  Since beginning full-time preaching in 2002, this will be my sixth trip to Costa Rica to engage in teaching the gospel. I am grateful to the elders for permitting me the time to go, to Rafael Barrantes for the invitation, and to God for the opportunity to lift up His Son Jesus Christ to the people of Costa Rica. After I return, I will present a report to the congregation on my teaching efforts. Please pray for a safe and successful trip.

God bless you, and I love you.
