What is the Bible’s teaching on modesty? 1) God has a standard for modest attire. 2) The consequences for immodesty 3) To uphold what is modest and eschew immodesty. Each should know what God's standard is for modest dress, the consequences of immodesty, and how to uphold modesty. To exhort, encourage, and warn regarding the virtues of modesty and the evils of immodesty.
This lesson sets forth some lessons learned from my experience in the Mission Field. 1) The poor are always with us, 2) The less one has, the more one values what one does have, 3) A good attitude toward life and work comes from the knowledge that one is serving God. 4) Time is our most important sacrifice. Each member should reflect upon their own attitudes in comparison to those of the brethren in the Mission Field. I want to communicate the idea that it does not take a lot to do a lot.
The joy of having our citizenship in heaven entails 1) Following the Example of Paul, 2) Forsaking the Allure of the World, 3) Focusing on Jesus in Heaven. Each hearer should be able to explain the relationship of joy with pursuing heavenly things and not pursuing earthly things.
When the roll is called up yonder 1) time as we know it will end, 2) all will be resurrected, 3) today is the day of salvation. Each person will understand what we are singing in this song and how it relates to the Bible.
We ought all to have the Christian virtue of longsuffering because it 1) helps us know God, 2) keeps us faithful, 3) keeps us vigilant, 4) keeps up working, and 5) helps us finish. Each should be able to understand how being longsuffering will help us to heaven. That each would understand and desire the great benefits of longsuffering.
What does it take to enter the kingdom of heaven? 1) Faith Only is not Enough, 2) A Semblance of Sanctimony is not Enough, 3) Doing the Will of the Father is Key. Each person should understand that it takes both faith and action to enter the kingdom of heaven. This sermon seeks to show by Jesus’ teaching that salvation by faith only is a false doctrine.
As we study Psalm 23, let us consider the great blessings God provides to His flock: Care, Comfort, Communion, and Confidence. For each Christian to associate Psalm 23 with the providence of God and to remember that God provides.
Pursuing excellence is joyful when we 1) Have a Clear Standard, 2) Learn from the Past, 3) Acknowledge the Challenge, 4) Commit to the Pursuit. Each hearer will explain how we have joy by pursuing Jesus Christ.
From Hebrews 13:5-6 we learn that Christ’s presence brings some wonderful blessings: 1) Contentment, 2) Help, and 3) Fearlessness. I hope that each listener will understand that Christ’s presence brings great blessings.
Freedom in Christ brings joy when we 1) beware of false identities of the flesh, 2) count all things loss for Christ, 3) identify wholly with Christ. Each listener will be able to understand and explain how joy in Christ comes from freedom from fleshly identities and attitudes. I hope to show from Paul’s life and history that release from fleshly captivities brings joy
Christian unity is based upon the teaching of Christ. We are united as Christians and without the teaching of Christ we are not Christians. This teaching is summarized in the list of seven “ones” in Ephesians 4:4-6. Each person should understand that for us to have unity as Christians we must adhere to the same standards of the teaching of Christ.
In this lesson we want to look at the Baptism of Christ. We will note that the Baptism of Christ is: 1) A burial in water. 2) An action of faith. 3) God’s work of righteousness. Everyone needs to be able to discuss what the baptism of Christ is in relationship to the plan of salvation. Not many in the religious world today understand it. But it is part of the great commission and we must preach and teach it. To encourage the brethren to teach others about the Baptism of Christ.
Faithful brethren are a joy when they exhibit the qualities of Timothy and Epaphroditus. Each listener should understand what qualities God desires in faithful brethren. I want to help people come to appreciate faithful brethren for the right reasons.
In this Psalm we see that God blesses the King and destroys His enemies. Each one should be able to explain how God blesses the King and destroys His enemies today. I want to teach that God has triumphed through Jesus and destroyed the devil.
In this lesson we will look at Jesus teaching regarding discipleship as it relates to his identity. We will notice 1) Jesus is the Leader, 2) Christians are the Followers, 3) Christians are alive, but can die, 4) Jesus Commands Faithfulness, 5) True Disciples Bear Fruit. Each person should be able to discuss their relationship to Jesus as His disciple and how to pursue that relationship more effectively. I want to encourage all to learn more about Jesus so as to strengthen each as a disciple of Jesus.
The Christian can truly have personal peace in his life by following the teaching of the Holy Spirit. Peace comes from the Spirit of God and His teaching to us on how to live. This lesson will bring scripture to bear on some practical ways to have personal peace.
In this lesson, we will look at what Jesus says about His mission. As disciples of Christ, we must take up the same mission today.
Instructions from Mother: 1) do the right thing, 2) listen to your parents, 3) don't wish your life away. To teach and encourage our youth to live lives of wisdom as advised by mothers.
