  • Christ is King!

Christ is King because… 1) He is the Creator, 2) All Things are For Him, 3) He Supports and Sustains Us, 4) He is the Head of the Church, 5) The Fullness of God Dwells in Him, 6) He Reconciles All Things to Himself by His Sacrifice. Each should understand that these fundamental truths make sense of the world.

Addiction and the Christian – Part 1

There are other things, however, to which a person may be addicted. One may be addicted to his job. We call these people workaholics. A person may be addicted to talking or anger. Pornography is a great addiction for many. In his book, Removing Emotional Pain, Ron Wilkins lists the top ten addictions of his time. They are in order: 1) anger, 2) talking, 3) sex, 4) food, 5) tobacco, 6) alcohol, 7) drugs, 8) stealing, 9) gambling, and 10) work. We could probably add “electronics” to this list today.

  • Loving God's Word

Ye Are the Light of the World

In this lesson, we will think about the song, “Ye Are the Light of the World.” For Christians to be the light of the world there are some things that they must 1) Avoid, 2) Act, and 3) Adore. Each should understand that he has an influence to use for good. Each Christian should be more cognizant of his example to others in both word and deed.

What Does it Mean to be Born Again?

In this lesson we will study what it means to be born again. To be born again means 1) To be born of water, 2) To be born of Spirit, and 3) To enter the kingdom of God. Each hearer should be able to understand and tell others what it means to be born again. To refute the denominational doctrine that the new birth does not include baptism and to teach the truth regarding what it meant to Jesus, John, and Nicodemus.

The Royal Wedding Feast – Part 3

One must wear the king’s garments. We must put on Christ in baptism. “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27). His righteousness must be our righteousness or we will not enter (Matthew 5:20). Paul said that he wanted to “be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ” (Philippians 3:9).

What Purpose Did God Make Us For?

God wants us to fulfill His purposes for us by living for Him every day. In this way, we can grow to be the kind of people that God wants us to be. Ultimately, God wants every single person to grow into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 8:29 says, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

  • The King and His Kingdom

Christ the King gives His kingdom 1) Knowledge, 2) Good Works, 3) Strength, 4) Family. Each person should understand that Christ the King is the source of Knowledge, Good Works, Strength, and Family. I want everyone to appreciate that Christ the King is the charter of His kingdom.

  • What We Are For in 2024!

Regardless of how many new technologies we obtain, the focus of the gospel is still the same: people. Jesus was about people; the church is about people; we need to be about people. What does that mean? It means continuing to worship and take care of the saints in the local body, reaching out to others in the community with the gospel and growing the body of Christ. Taking the message of the gospel to the rest of the world as we have opportunity (Matthew 28:18-20).

  • Resolutions

This sermon sets forth some optimistic resolutions each Christian should make in light of the new year. Each member should be motivated to go forward into the new year and work for God anticipating great accomplishments. I want to motivate all to be optimistic toward this new year.

The Royal Marriage Feast – Part 2

Why would God be angry that some people rejected His invitation? This is the rejection of God Himself. Why so serious? Justice demands punishment of sin and all have sinned. There is no forgiveness outside of the wedding feast. God only justifies those who believe and obey Jesus Christ (Romans 3:26). Those who have sought justice in this life alone will be disappointed to find themselves alongside of those to whom they served justice having rejected God’s invitation.

The Royal Marriage Feast – Part 1

God has prepared a wonderful feast. He offers the bread and water of life, Jesus Christ. “And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.’” (John 6:35). This is God offering Himself because Jesus is God with us. He gives a great feast, the abundant life (John 10:10).

  • The Fruit of the Spirit is Goodness

The fruit of the Spirit is goodness because goodness 1) Originates in Love, 2) Cares About Others, 3) Gives to Others, 4) Works for the Benefit of Others, 5) Sacrifices for Others. Each person should have an understanding of God’s goodness and how it informs goodness in our lives.
