II.  Faithful to God and Christ

1. Our identity is in Christ

1) Galatians 2:20 – “I am crucified with Christ . . . .”

2) Colossians 3:3 – “For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

3) This happens when we are baptized into Christ. Romans 6:3-4 – “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”

2. Faithfulness is Living for Christ.

1) Colossians 2:13 – “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.”

2) Romans 6:8 – “Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.”

5) Revelation 2:10 – “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

a. Walk in his steps (1 Peter 2:21).

b. Live for Christ (Philippians 1:21).

III. Faithful to One Another

1. Husbands and Wives

1) Genesis 2:24 said, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

2) Matthew 19:6

3) Ephesians 5:22-24 says, “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.”

4) Ephesians 5:25, 28-29 says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her…. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.”

2. Parents and Children

1) “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth’” (Ephesians 6:1-3).

2) “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).

3. Business Relationships

1) “Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:22-24).

2) “Not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men” (Ephesians 6:6-7).
