Think on These Things
The Bible teaches us that we can control our thoughts. This means that I must make an effort to focus on and think about my thoughts. Paul’s instruction in Philippians 4 gives us the necessary elements to do this so as to have joy in our lives. Philippians 4:8 gives us a list of things that we can think on at all times and never run out of things to consider. The real question is, “Why do we ever think about negative things at all when there is so much good to think about?” The answer: our fallen bodies are set to mull negative thinking as a survival trait. Christians, however, are not here to survive, they are here to have the abundant life. Thinking on the right things is foundational to having that abundant life. This series of lessons presented by Kevin Cauley provides a set of sermon outlines that will aid the preacher to discuss these matters further.
