Simply attaching God’s name to an activity does not make it holy. We cannot make something holy simply be declaring it such. Only God holds that prerogative. We must avoid turning worship into a circus, common spectacle, or entertainment forum. We should take care that we do not so treat God’s holy things! Remember Nadab and Abihu? They were lax with God’s holy things and they paid the price.
The name of God is holy and sacred. Yet, there are some who profane it by bringing it down to common use. We should only speak of God in a holy way. We profane God’s name when we use it in an unholy way. The church that Christ built and for which he died (Acts 20:38) is a holy and sacred institution. We must regard the church as holy.
God spells out some things that are holy— that are sanctified. In Romans 1:2 we see that the scriptures are holy; they are set apart by God for a special purpose (see also 2 Timothy 3:15). In Ephesians 5:27 we read that the church is holy. Hebrews 7:26 says that we have a holy High Priest. And in the epistles of Peter, Christians are to be holy; they are a holy nation (1 Peter 1:15, 16 and 1 Peter 2:9). Are we concerned about holiness?
God has always demanded holiness of those who would approach Him. The reason is clear--He is holy. Thus, those who would come into His presence and have fellowship with Him must be holy (Heb. 12:14; Rev. 21:27; 1 John 1:6-10). The apostle Peter penned these words: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” (1 Pet. 1:15-16).
In this lesson, we will study 2 Samuel 6 and the account of David’s bringing the ark to Jerusalem. The hearer will consider the errors and successes of David in an effort to understand how God desires us to regard His holy things. It is my aim to teach some lessons regarding holiness in worship.
This is a common expression that is used in prayer. The word “molestation” here means not to be bothered by those who would interrupt the worship services. The idea is that we desire to have a peaceful experience when we are worshipping.
In this lesson about Bible Commandments, we will look at the commandment, “Worship God!” To worship God we must 1) Understand Worship, 2) Acknowledge God as the Object of Worship 3) Put Away Idols that Compete with Worshipping God. Each hearer should know what the command “Worship God” means.
Being In the Resurrection means 1) We have a resurrected life, 2) We will have a resurrected body, 3) We will live forever in heaven. The hearer should be able to understand the importance of the resurrected life as it relates to eternal resurrection and life in heaven with God and Christ.
We enter God's gates with thanksgiving because 1) thanksgiving is the only appropriate response for what God has done for us, 2) thanksgiving brings about a change of attitude in our lives, 3) thanksgiving spurs us into action for the welfare and benefit of others. The hearer should be able to state why he ought to have a heart of thanksgiving and how that relates to Christian living.
Noah needed to escape from 1) Sin, 2) The Flood, 3) Starvation, and 4) The Ark. From this lesson, each will understand the account of the flood and the lessons we learn from it. Each will understand that God helps His people escape in times of need.
Let us not be ashamed 1) To suffer as a Christian, 2) To teach and preach the gospel, 3) To own Jesus as our Lord. Each Christian ought to be more emboldened to act according to God's will, take the gospel message to others, and follow the example of Christ in their life. This lesson is designed to encourage the membership to be zealous in their Christianity.
The psalmist prays to God for life or revival in 1) Affliction, 2) Assurance, 3) Aggravation, 4) Authenticity. This lesson teaches us to turn to God and His word for revival and ongoing life because He is its source.
We will discuss the ark of the covenant, its 1) Form, 2) Function, and 3) Fame. The hearer should understand what the ark was, what it was used for, and how it has significance today. I hope that everyone will appreciate God’s desire to be with His people in holiness.
Holy living is not just being a moral person: one who doesn’t commit fornication, drink booze, gamble away money, take advantage of other people, lie, cheat, steal, etc. Holiness certainly avoids these things, but that is not all it is.

We can’t save ourselves because 1) just one sin separates us from God, 2) sin distorts our efforts to do good, 3) the good works we do are not sufficient to save us. The listener should understand that only by trusting in Christ Jesus can we be saved.
