Mixing It Up!

Not too many Sundays ago, we had a class in which we discussed getting out of our ruts. The question that came up was “How can we do a better job of getting to know one another?” There were many helpful suggestions. One of the simplest suggestions was to sit in a different place for worship. This was extended to sitting next to someone that you normally did not sit next to. We also discussed sitting next to a different person during our monthly potluck luncheons. These are great and simple ways to get to know one another. Have we been working on this? Have we been “mixing it up?” It is so easy to fall back into habitual behavior without thinking, but we would do well to make the effort.

So, either this Sunday or next Sunday, let’s try to sit next to someone that we haven’t sat next to in a while. We can call it “Mix It Up Sunday.” I will make an effort to do this myself also. Maybe this involves sitting closer to the front for some of you. Maybe this involves moving to the other side of the building for a change. Maybe this involves finding a friend that you haven’t sat by in a while. Whatever the case may be, let’s do what we can and make an effort to get to know each other better. Our congregation will be encouraged by this effort! Hebrews 3:13 states, “but exhort one another daily, while it is called ‘Today,’ lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

God bless you, and I love you.
