A Beautiful Success

Success is measured in different ways.  One man’s success may be another man’s failure.  When defining success, we need to be careful and ensure that we are defining in the way God defines it so that we don’t become prideful in our accomplishments “for God resists the proud, and giveth grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5b).  Having said that, I believe that our gospel meeting this past weekend was a great success.

Our meeting was a success because we had great congregational involvement.  God wants us to love one another, and this means that we need to be involved in each other’s lives.  Paul wrote, “Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another” (Romans 12:10).  I witnessed this kind affection this past weekend, and it was beautiful!

Our meeting was a success because we took up the Lord’s work and labored.  Paul wrote, “I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6).  As Christians, our task is to plant and water—to labor for the master.  We put in a lot of combined effort to make this event happen, and for that reason, it was successful.

Our meeting was a success because we invited others to respond.  Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).  Jesus’ invitation is for all, and we extended that invitation to thousands of residents in the city of New Boston, Texas.  Your love and support made that happen!

God has certainly given us the increase as a result of our efforts.  I am overjoyed that Davonte Ballard and Latorie Brown put their Lord on in baptism this past Sunday.  I am excited that we are receiving responses in the mail from the cards that we handed out to the community.  God is good all the time.  God bless you, and I love you.
