Jesus’ directive to make disciples entails 1) A Command, 2) An Expectation, 3) A Purpose. Each hearer should understand what Jesus wants from us as we seek to make disciples. Making disciples is not an easy or quick task, but a lifetime commitment.
In this lesson, we will discuss the command to obey the Lord. We will look at 1) What the command means, 2) Who is responsible to follow it, and 3) Why we must obey it. Each hearer should be impressed with the absolute necessity of obeying the Lord. I hope to communicate with each person what obedience means.
To live for Jesus means 1) Being an All-In Disciple, 2) Having an Amazing Destiny, 3) Following Jesus All Day. We will learn from the lyrics of this great song and the Bible what it means to live for Jesus.
To be a spiritual leader one must adopt 1) Jesus’ Model of Leadership, 2) Jesus’ Method of Leadership, and 3) Jesus’ Mission of Leadership. Each hearer should know what it means to be a spiritual leader in his/her family. Spiritual leadership means humbling ourselves before God to serve one another in our families.
How do missionaries work? The word “missionary” means “a person sent by a church into an area to carry on evangelism or other activities, as educational or hospital work” (dictionary.com). The word stems from a Latin word meaning “one who is sent.” In the New Testament, we can identify several missionaries. Philip seems to be the first of these.
In this lesson we will answer the question, “What is Evangelism” in a fourfold way. Evangelism is 1) Prayer, 2) Opportunities, 3) Work, 4) Teaching. I want each hearer to understand what all is involved in evangelism. The aim of this sermon is to educate and encourage each Christian to be evangelistic.
In this lesson, we will discuss the conversion of the three thousand in Acts chapter 2 and the essential ingredients to effective evangelism. This includes 1) The Presence of the Holy Spirit, 2) People of the Dispersion, 3) Prophets of the Old Testament, 4) Preachers of the Gospel, 5) Penitent of Heart, 6) Persistent in Faithfulness. The hearer should be familiar with the events in Acts 2 and the principles of evangelism as related to this conversion account. The aim of this lesson is to help the hearer understand more about the principles of evangelism taught in Acts 2.
Being a disciple of Jesus means being committed to Jesus and His values by 1) listening and following Jesus as my spiritual leader, 2) participating in the church, Jesus’ instrument to address concerns in the world, and 3) caring about other people in both physical and spiritual ways. The listener should be able to understand and relate what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. This sermon is designed to develop a deeper sense of commitment to Jesus and His values.
In this sermon we will examine the statement, "To The Blind He Gives Sight." He does this because there is, 1) A Need--the blind need to see, 2) A Name--only He has this authority, 3) A Notion--the blind who see will tell others, 4) A Nation--the blind who see will believe and worship together, and 5) A Night--an eternal blindness is coming for those who do not see. I want to impress upon each hearer that God wants all men to be saved and to come to the truth and to help the congregation become more evangelistic.
