Summer’s Come and Is Going

It is hard to believe that the month of June is almost gone.  We are six months into the year 2015!  Our summer activities are well under way.  Camp is next week!  Woo Hoo!  I am thankful to Brother Jimmy Smith for preaching in my absence this past Sunday.  I always hear good things about his preaching.  I also understand that brother Buddy Ray did a wonderful job last Wednesday night in our summer series.  It is good to have such capable gospel preachers in the area to edify and encourage us.

Our family vacation went very well last week.  We had a wonderful time with family and friends celebrating my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.  We also visited with Mary Lynn’s parents and got to see their new-to-them house in Hamilton, Texas where they will be moving before the end of the year.  The boys had a great time swimming, watching movies, and eating at their favorite establishments.  We received some rain while there, and I understand New Boston received its share of rain as well.

I was very sorry to hear of sister Nell Patrick’s passing this past week.  She was such a delightful lady to be around, and we are all going to miss her dearly.  It was a blessing to know her and have her as part of our life here at the New Boston Church of Christ.  The Apostle Paul’s words are of comfort when he says, “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus” (1 Thess.4:13-14).  Let’s continue to pray for her family as they mourn her passing.  God bless you, and I love you.
