TITLE: God’s Word is Our Guide for Life
SUBJECT: Psalm 119 – The Word of God
PROPOSITION: God’s word guides us through all of life’s circumstances: 1) Affliction, 2) Worship, 3) Decisions, 4) Persecution, and 5) The Future.
OBJECTIVE: Each hearer should know that they can trust in God’s word to guide them.
INTRODUCTION:
1. Read: Psalm 119:105-112
2. About the Text:
1) Psalm 119 is all about praising God for His wonderful word.
2) Every letter of the alphabet is used to praise God and His word.
3) When we study and apply God’s word to our life, God will bless our way.
4) In this section of Psalm 119, Nun, we learn that God’s Word is Our Guide for Life.
5) Vs. 105-106 give us this thought.

DISCUSSION: God’s Word is our Guide for Life
I. During Afflictions (v.107)
1. God’s word warns us about afflictions – Psalm 34:19 – “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
2. God’s word comforts us in our afflictions – Psalm 119:50 – “This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.”
3. God’s word gives us perspective on our afflictions – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.
II. In Worship (v.108)
1. Those who worship God want to know God’s “rules.”
2. God seeks true worshippers to worship Him – John 4:23-24.
3. He does not accept everyone who says, “Lord, Lord” – Matthew 7:21.
4. Revelation 22:8-9 – must worship according to the book.
5. 1 Peter 4:11 – “If anyone speaks . . . .”
III. In Making Decisions (v.109)
1. What to do with our life is in our hands every day.
2. Do we talk to God about our decisions? Do we just do whatever without God’s counsel?
3. Jeremiah 10:23 – “Oh Lord, I know . . . .”
4. Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart . . . .”
5. Colossians 3:17 – “Whatsoever you do . . . .”
IV. In Times of Persecution (v.110)
1. Sometimes, wicked people come after us. What do we do about their persecutions?
2. All who live godly will suffer persecution – 2 Timothy 3:12
3. We must count it all joy – James 1:2-4
4. We must be faithful – Revelation 2:10
V. Forever (v.111-112)
1. God’s words will preserve us to the end and give us a great inheritance.
2. 1 Peter 1:3-5 – Read
3. Acts 20:32 – “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
CONCLUSION:
