What We Are For in 2024!
It is the year 2024 in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ! What a wonderful time to be alive. There are so many technologies that we have an opportunity to use. Transportation is easy and affordable. Communication is greater than we have ever known. Medical technologies have improved health and created longer lives for many. We can do things easier, faster, more economical, and live a longer life than any other time in history. How will we use these blessings for the Lord and His church this year?
Regardless of how many new technologies we obtain, the focus of the gospel is still the same: people. Jesus was about people; the church is about people; we need to be about people. What does that mean? It means continuing to worship and take care of the saints in the local body, reaching out to others in the community with the gospel and growing the body of Christ. Taking the message of the gospel to the rest of the world as we have opportunity (Matthew 28:18-20).
The year 2023 was great for the church in New Boston, Texas, and I believe that 2024 is going to be even better. We have scheduled our spring gospel meeting to begin March 31st with Andy Baker. He is a great preacher, and you will want to hear his messages. We have more regular activities for our youth this year. We will have a “Friends and Family Day” on May 19th. We will be talking more about that. We are now involved with Camp Ida at a deeper level, and we have several kids planning to go in July. We are talking about taking another mission trip to Brazil. How can we be involved in all these good works? Let’s think about what we are for in 2024.
