There’s Only One You

This may sound like a cliché, but it’s true. God made each person’s soul and placed it into a unique situation. No one else has had the experiences that you have. No one else knows the things that you know. No one else can do what you do. Why is this important to remember?

First, if you don’t offer what you have, others will never get it. That’s a tragedy because God created you to give what you have. God wants you to give yourself away. If you don’t do that, everyone will be denied your uniqueness, and Christ’s body will be lacking. “But now hath God set the members each one of them in the body, even as it pleased him” (1 Corinthians 12:18). Second, other people need to hear what you have to say, and only you can tell them. “And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you” (1 Corinthians 12:21). Third, God wants us to accept and love one another. Those who won’t do that need to be challenged to do that. The church gives us the correct environment to do that. If you withdraw yourself from engagement, some won’t be challenged to love and accept you. “And whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it; or one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26).

A great temptation for many today is to withdraw from society altogether. That is a big mistake. Where there is no interaction, there is no growth, and where there is no growth, there is only death. Life only takes place where there is interaction with others. The church is God’s plan to do this.

God bless you, and I love you.
