Life is Unpredictable

I sit here in my dining room surrounded by several inches if not a foot of snow on the outside of the house. I never thought I would see temperatures below zero degrees in Northeast Texas. Fortunately, God has made a wonderfully predictable orb that we lovingly call the Sun, and it will return to service in a few days. We will be asking it to hide again in not too many months. The Sun, however, isn’t the problem. It’s the earth, where people live, that has the problems. Life is unpredictable. You never really know what is going to happen next.

How do we address the unpredictability of life? We must put our faith in the One who knows the end from the beginning. Whether we are crippled by some terrible disease, cooped up by the weather, or simply encounter a seemingly random event, God knows all things. “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3). That means that the best thing a person can do about the unpredictable nature of life is to trust in the Lord. There are too many possibilities for the human mind to comprehend it all, but it is a simple thing for God.

What must we focus upon? We must learn and know the word of God. We must put our relationship with Him first. When we do this, He will provide for us. Paul wrote, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). Whatever it might be, we can trust in God to take care of us. Whether in life or in death, we can trust in God to take care of us.

God bless you, and I love you.
