PROPOSITION: It is all about Jesus because 1) He is the Creator, 2) We were created for Him, 3) He supports and sustains us, 4) He is the head of the church, 5) The fullness of God dwells in Him, 6) He reconciles all things to Himself by His sacrifice.

OBJECTIVE: We need to understand that it is all about Jesus and make His purposes the center of our life.

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: Colossians 1:15-20

2. About the Text:

1) The book of Colossians is about the preeminence of Christ Jesus.

2) The vast majority of people on the planet go through life not understanding Jesus.

3) It is our privilege to introduce them to Him.

4) Let’s talk about why it is all about Jesus.

DISCUSSION: It is all about Jesus because . . .

I.   He is the Creator (15-16).

1. John 1:1-2

2. Hebrews 1:2

3. Philippians 2:5-6

II.  We were created for Him (16).

1. “For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering” (Heb.2:10).

2. “for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1 Cor.6:20).

3. “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure” (Phil.2:13).

III. He supports and sustains us (17).

1. “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power” (Heb.1:3a).

2. “for ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed his offspring’” (Acts 17:2).

3. “Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.” (Acts 14:17).

IV.  He is the head of the church (18).

1. “And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all” (Eph.1:22-23).

2. “For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior” (Eph.5:23).

V.   The fullness of God dwells in Him (19).

1. “No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known” (John 1:18).

2. “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature” (Heb.1:3a).

3. “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” (Rev.5:13).

VI.  He reconciles all things to Himself by His sacrifice (20).

1. “After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Heb.1:3b).

CONCLUSION:

1. It is all about Jesus!
