Why Do Christians Worship on Sunday?

1. Part of the Law of Moses

1) “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8).

2) “‘?Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you” (Deuteronomy 5:12).

2. Given to the Jews (not the whole world)

1) “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.’ So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments” (Exodus 34:27-28).

2) “And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: ‘Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your hearing today, that you may learn them and be careful to observe them. 3. Christians Do Not Need to Observe the Sabbath Days

1) “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ” (Colossians 2:16-17).

2) “But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years” (Galatians 4:9-10).

3. Paul Met with the Church to Observe the Lord’s Supper

Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight” (Acts 20:6-7).

The Contribution was Collected – “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come” (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
