Blessed is He Who Keeps the Words
The Seven Beatitudes of Revelation – Part 6 – Blessed is He who Keeps the Words of Prophecy
Jesus pronounces this blessing in Revelation 22:7: “And behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book.” This is a second blessing upon those who keep the words of the book of Revelation. The first was in Revelation 1:3, “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written therein: for the time is at hand.” This is a blessing upon those who are obedient to Christ and who live for Him every day. Jesus said “If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Jesus saves those who obey Him. “And having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation” (Hebrews 5:9). This blessing is for those who keep the words of the prophecy. They obey Jesus. John writes in 1 John 5:2-3, “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” The faithful Christian wants to please God above all things; he wants to keep Christ’s commandments; he does not want to grieve the Holy Spirit. Disobedience causes God grief, displeases Him, and proves that we don’t love Christ. Christians today who say that they don’t care about commandment keeping are rebelling against God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit when they make such ignorant statements. Knowing God’s commandments and obeying them is following Jesus in His steps because He knew God’s commandments and obeyed them perfectly.
God bless you, and I love you.
