Being Spiritual as a Mature Couple (Part 3)

Older couples will be great and godly contributors to the lives of their grown children by being faithful to one another and being faithful to the Lord. Attending worship with the church will be a highlight in older years as one will get to see so many loving and growing families being encouraged to live faithful Christian lives. Older couples will want to participate in church activities to set an example for younger couples and enable them to be faithful to God and one another. This can also be a great time of service to the Lord as older couples have more time on their hands to work with and serve the church. Our seniors make effective evangelists as many will see their wisdom and experience as a great resource upon which to draw and live life. We do not stop being Christians just because we get older. We continue to serve and help others through doing the will of Christ in our lives (Matthew 28:18-20). Psalm 92:12-14 says “The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing.” While we will never “arrive” spiritually speaking, we will continue to learn and grow as the oak tree, adding new rings of experience each year. We will continue to change in ways that we have not considered as we look at the world through the eyes of maturity, and, as death draws near, our appreciation and value of what is truly important will intensify. This is a great time in our lives to contribute spiritually to the health and prosperity of the church, our Christian family, as we incorporate those principles learned in rearing our own family toward the body of Christ.

God bless you, and I love you.
