What Can We Do About Immorality? (Part 1)

Since the 1960s we have seen society decay into a perverse decadence of frivolity, filth, and fornication. Much of this is because of the so-called sexual revolution. When the birth-control pill became available, the notion of sex for pleasure became mainstream because the pill reduced the risk of pregnancy. This created a “sex on demand” society. Since then, very few forms of entertainment exist without a double-entendre or reference to some kind of sexual sin. Many Christians just don’t watch television anymore. Nor can you listen to the radio due to the amount of trash that is played both in the music and the commentary. The Internet and social media is a giant cesspool.

Today’s media merely reflects a much worse problem: Many people really do think and act like the sordid situations on the sitcoms. Their perverse behavior drives the content and output of media today. The problem is the sin of immorality. The church (and every individual member) has a responsibility to combat this evil in our society. How can we fight this when it seems like such a big problem?

We can start with our own homes. Fathers need to step up and take a leading role here. Stand up and be an example to your children. Let them know that you do not engage in this kind of activity; don’t watch it on television; don’t condone it when you hear stories about it. Tell your children: “It is a sin to have sex before marriage.” “It is a sin to drink alcoholic beverages recreationally.” “It is a sin to view pornography.” “It is a sin to do drugs.” “It is a sin to use one’s God-given mouth to curse God’s creation.” “Homosexuality is sinful!” “Transgenderism is sinful.” The list is extensive, but we must begin at home.

God bless you, and I love you.
