What Can We Do About Immorality? (Part 2)
Mothers, you are a great influence on your children. Let them know that their father is right when he warns them about immorality. Support him and repeat the things that he says to them. Do not let there be any doubt in your children’s heart as to where you stand on these issues. Don’t let the church do this work alone! I have seen couples who were faithful in attendance, whose children who were taught right from wrong in the church, but when they got out on their own, they left and broke their parents’ hearts. Many of those parents had regrets that they did not sit down and talk to their children about these most important things. Don’t let that child be yours! We must talk to them about the truth. The church can help, but ultimately, the child will watch and listen to the parent. Send the right message clearly and often.
The church also has a responsibility to fight immorality in the community. Members can write letters to the editor; to the local radio station; to the superintendent of schools and school board letting them know what the Bible teaches regarding immorality. Members can vote in elections for candidates to exhibit moral qualities in their lives and let the community know that character makes a difference when it comes to serving the community. The recent Texas legislation that puts the Ten Commandments into the classroom is a step in the right direction. The children of our community need to see and know the foundations of moral behavior. So many in the world simply do not teach such things to their kids, even in so-called Bible believing communities. How much immorality could be prevented simply from children being taught that there is a standard of behavior beyond their own desires!
God bless you, and I love you.
