Jesus said, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35). “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:38). Let us teach and pray and then teach and pray some more. There are souls who are ready to be added to the church (Acts 2:48). What are you doing to help them?
In this lesson we want to look at the process of rescuing the lost as illustrated by the Elizabeth Smart case. Everyone should understand this process and the principles involved in this process to aid in the seeking and finding the spiritually lost to motivate us as Christians to seek and save the lost.
We need to determine to get out and start evangelizing for Christ. The stakes are too high, and the souls of men hang in the balance. Let’s resolve to make an effort to evangelize our community. “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” (John 4:25).
It is an awesome and daunting responsibility to take the gospel to others. I have been involved in several efforts to get the word out. I have knocked doors and spoken to folks about the gospel. I don’t know everything about personal evangelism, but I have come to learn about several misconceptions.
This sermon answers the question, "Who at the door is standing?" 1) Jesus is standing at the door. 2) The world is standing at the door. 3) You are standing at the door. Each hearer should be able to state who is standing at the door and for what reasons. To help each understand their relationship to Jesus while he stands at the door.
Evangelism is important because all need to hear the GOOD NEWS: "Jesus loves ME!" This IS good news! That is what evangelism is, "bringing good news," and that is what Christians do. We seek to tell people about Jesus, who can bring them from the despair of being downtrodden to the delight of being lifted up, from the depths of darkness to lovely light, and from death in sin to life in the Savior. By evangelism, we can help the lost to escape the shackles of doubt, fear, uncertainty, and crippling discouragement.
An evangelist is literally someone who shares the gospel with another. Everyone should be an evangelist in the original sense of the word. This doesn’t mean that we will be baptizing people every hour. Relationships take time to develop, and we can’t share the gospel successfully with another person without developing a relationship with them. It takes time.

The hearer should be familiar with the events in Acts 2 and the principles of evangelism as related to this conversion account. The aim of this lesson is to help the hearer understand more about the principles of evangelism taught in Acts 2.
