Spiritual Leaders Needed in the Home!

faithful fathers

Every organization needs leadership. The home is no different. Just because it is a small organization does not mean leadership is not required. For the home to accomplish its God-given purpose, it must have spiritual leadership. What is that? The word “spiritual” means “that which is concerned about spirit.” In the Bible, a spiritual person is one led by God’s Spirit (Romans 8:14, Galatians 5:18). This means giving attention to God’s word. Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). We cannot know what it means to be spiritual without the word of God. Spiritual leadership is based on Jesus’ life, teaching, and example. This kind of leadership prioritizes God in the home above all else.

The Bible teaches that just as Jesus is the head of the church, so also, the husband is the head of the home. Ephesians 5:22-24 says, “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.” The kind of leadership that Jesus exhibited was not worldly in nature. Jesus was a servant; He led by example and teaching. He sought to change others through humility (John 13:14). That is the kind of leadership the home needs. Unfortunately, there is great confusion in the world today about this. Men are not the servants that they need to be. Women usurp the man’s God-given role in the home. This creates chaos and results in many problems. May God help us to respect His spiritual-leadership principles.

God bless you, and I love you.
