Jesus Chose (Part 1)

I cannot think of a more encouraging thought than to think of the title of this article—Jesus Chose! We have the great blessing of being able to look back upon the events that led up to the cross and learn from the life of Christ how we can live our life as well. The Hebrew writer states, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Let’s look at a few things that Jesus Chose.

Jesus chose to come to this earth. In Philippians 2:5-6, we read, “Have this mind in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.” He chose to leave the form of God and empty Himself. He chose to take the form of a servant. He chose to be made in the likeness of men. If HE chose to be a servant, we can choose to be a servant too!

Jesus chose to preach the gospel. In Matthew 4:23 we read, “And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness among the people.” He chose to leave the trade of His earthly father. He chose to leave behind his family and friends. He chose to teach and preach the gospel. Sometimes we must also do these things to preach the gospel of Christ. But if HE chose to do it, we can too!

God bless you, and I love you.
