What Does It Take? – Part 3
What does it take for a congregation to grow? What does it take to have a successful gospel meeting? What does it take to have a successful VBS or Youth Rally? What does it take to have any successful endeavor within the church? Let’s look at another answer to these questions.
Members of the church need to be ubiquitous. This means that we are everywhere. People in the world know us when they see us. And what is it that we want them to see? Christ in us the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Our lives need to be reflections of Jesus every day. Our local churches need to have members that uphold the standards of Jesus Christ. We must participate in the eternal purpose of Almighty God by bringing unity to a world that sin has divided. Jesus said, “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me” (John 17:22-23).
We must go into the community and let people know what we are doing. We must speak to our neighbors regarding the gospel. This is what those in the first century did. We read in Acts 8:4 “. . . they went everywhere preaching the word.” It was said of the Christians in the first century that they had turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6). Everyone knew who they were; they knew where they were; they knew what they taught! Do people in our community today know about us? Are we ubiquitous?
