The Simple Gospel

Remember Jesus

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent” (1 Corinthians 1:18,19).

Some of the Bible is difficult to understand (2 Peter 3:16), but the majority is not. Moses told the children of Israel, “For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it” (Deuteronomy 30:11-14).

The Gospel is simple. God gave his word in an easy-to-understand way so that everyone could do it. Paul wrote, “How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)” (Ephesians 3:3,4). If we read what Paul wrote, we can understand what he understood. Why do not more people understand and obey the gospel if it is so simple? Pride blinds them against the simple truth! God made it simple “That no flesh should glory in his presence” (1 Corinthians 1:29).

God bless you, and I love you.
