The God of Truth – Part 2

Loving God's Word

The Bible teaches that God always tells the truth and cannot lie. Titus 1:2 says, “in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.” Hebrews 6:18 states, “that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.” In last week’s article, we introduced the idea that for God to affirm a contradiction would make Him a liar. We looked at a couple of examples regarding baptism and salvation by faith only. This week, we will continue our thoughts.

The statements, “God allows disagreement on matters of faith” and “God does not allow disagreement on matters of faith” are contradictory statements. One is true and one is a false. God cannot be the author of both statements. However, many in the religious world today state that men can believe different and contradictory things regarding matters of faith and still make it to heaven. The Bible teaches that there is one body, Christ’s church (Ephesians 4:4, Ephesians 1:22-23), and Christ is the Savior of that one body (Ephesians 5:23). The religious world teaches that there are many bodies, many churches, and that Jesus will save all of them. Is there one body? Or are there many bodies?

Moreover, some religious people even affirm that the church is not even necessary for salvation. If Jesus is the Savior of the body/church (Ephesians 5:23), how can the church not be necessary? Will Jesus save those outside the church? Or will Jesus save the church? How can this be if God cannot lie? Either the doctrines of man are wrong or God is a liar. Romans 3:4 says, “Let God be true but every man a liar.”

God bless you, and I love you.
