DISCUSSION: God is faithful to save His Saints because . . .

I.   He is Dependable

1. God’s Word is Dependable

1) “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89).

2) 1 Peter 1:25 – “‘But the word of the Lord endures forever.’ Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.”

3) “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

2. God’s Will is Dependable

1) “Your faithfulness endures to all generations” (Psalm 119:90a).

2) “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” (Deut.7:9).

3) “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9).

3. God’s World is Dependable

1) “You established the earth, and it abides. They continue this day according to Your ordinances, For all are Your servants” (Psalm 119:90b-91).

2) “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease” (Gen.8:22).

3) “Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness” (Acts 14:17).

II.  The Saints Delight in God’s Word

1. “Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction” (Psalm 119:92).

1) Luke 24:32 – “And they said to one another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?’”

2) Jeremiah 15:16 – “Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.”

2. “I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have given me life” (Psalm 119:93).

1) Proverbs 6:23 – “For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,”

2) Today, Jesus is our life and we receive life through His words.

3) “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).

III. He Delivers from the Enemy

1. The enemy of false ownership.

1) “I am Yours, save me; For I have sought Your precepts.” (Psalm 119:94).

2) Galatians 2:20 – “I am crucified with Christ ….”

2. The enemy of others.

1) “The wicked wait for me to destroy me, But I will consider Your testimonies” (119:95).

2) Satan is the enemy – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

3. From the enemy of pride.

1) “I have seen the consummation (end) of all perfection, But Your commandment is exceedingly broad” (Psalm 119:96).

2) Human “perfection” has limits, but God’s word does not.

3) Jeremiah 17:9; Jeremiah 10:23; Proverbs 3:5-8.

CONCLUSION:

1. God is faithful to save His saints because . . .

1) He is Dependable.

2) The Saints Delight in God’s Word.

3) He Delivers from the Enemy.
