Munchhausen Syndrome – Part 3
One of the main problems is that people like to sin. They receive pleasure from it. Hebrews 11:24-25 says, “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.” When something is pleasurable, gets attention, and helps one “survive,” it becomes addictive. Soon, a person will rationalize the choice by saying things like, “God wants me to be happy,” or “I was born this way.” The problem is that sin will eventually destroy us. It may take away our health, wealth, or family members. Like the prodigal son, we will end up in a proverbial pig pen. It doesn’t have to be that way. There is a better way of living!
God doesn’t want us to persist in the sickness of sin. God wants us to be cured from the sickness of sin. We can be cured if we trust in God’s word and stop practicing sin. God expects us to repent of our sins; that means we must change our life and stop sinning. That doesn’t mean that we will be perfect; but we don’t have to be perfect to stop making sin a deliberate and purposeful habit. We must cease doing evil and do good! Our eternal salvation depends on it. If we do not repent, we will be lost. A good medical doctor who learns that someone has Munchausen’s Syndrome will refuse to give them treatment. How much more so God! He will not treat those who persist in sin under the delusion that He will forgive them regardless of how they behave and act. They will be judged unworthy of eternal life (Acts 13:46). Repent today and sin no more. God forgives the penitent (Ezekiel 18:30-31).
God bless you, and I love you.
