The Destructive Consequences of Pride

In this lesson we will study 1 Corinthians 4 and learn that pride causes us to: 1) Be judges over God’s stewards, 2) Go beyond what is written, 3) Serve self instead of God, and 4) Not imitate the spiritual. The listener should learn that pride is a deadly enemy of God’s people and responsible for much division in the church. This lesson is designed to help us learn more about 1 Corinthians 4.

First Corinthians Chapter One

In this lesson we will look at the three main points of First Corinthians chapter 1: 1) Acknowledgement of Good, 2) Appeal for Unity, and 3) Authority for Action. The hearer should understand that Christ and Him crucified is the standard upon which unity and good works originate today.

Christian Graces – Brotherly Kindness

A Christian who displays brotherly kindness is going to be 1) Gracious and Giving, 2) Challenging and Truthful, and 3) Affectionate and Loving. The hearer should understand what it means to love someone as a brother or sister in Christ by displaying the characteristics of brotherly kindness. The aim of this lesson is to familiarize the hearer with scriptures that discuss these qualities.

God’s Word Manages Our Relationships

When God’s word has place in our life, it will manage our relationships to the best. We should trust in God’s word to manage our relationships.

Introduction to First Corinthians – God’s Wisdom or Man’s Wisdom?

The book of First Corinthians contrasts the wisdom of men with the wisdom of God on the following topics: 1) Unity vs. Division, 2) Morality vs. Immorality, 3) God’s Glory vs. Idolatry, 4) Orderliness vs. Disorderliness, 5) Resurrection vs. No Resurrection. Each listener should understand that God’s wisdom is greater than man’s wisdom and desire to follow God’s wisdom.

“The Only Thing to Fear . . .”

Fear comes from 1) Lack of Knowledge, 2) Lack of Love, and 3) Lack of Faith. That we may be able to overcome our fears and live in love, peace, and fellowship with one another.

Christian Graces – Godliness

When we have a right attitude toward God, we will 1) Fear God, 2) Worship God, 3) Love God. The hearer should have a fundamental idea of what it means to be godly: have a right attitude toward God.

“Love is the Perfect Unifier”

How intelligent are we really? Not very, if we are willing to sacrifice relationships for our own pride. Lack of love is the culprit.
