Your Most Significant Act!

I heard a story years ago about a preacher who did not know how to get to the church building. He was a guest speaker, and he got into town without having obtained sufficient directions. (This was much more common before we had smartphones to tell us where to go all the time!) So, he stopped at a local convenience store and asked where the building for the church of Christ was located. The convenience store operator gave him exact directions, and he went on his way to preach the gospel meeting. I was privileged to attend this meeting, and the brother speaking made a point of the eternal significance of the grocery store clerk’s actions in helping him find the building. This action on his part impacted souls for all eternity.

There are not many actions that we can take that will have an eternal impact, because so much of what we do concerns the mundane. However, we should take advantage of every opportunity to be involved in spiritual events because we are affecting matters of eternal importance! Will you invite your friends to our gospel meeting this week? Will you attend the gospel meeting this week? Some soul out there may say in eternity, “The most significant event in my life was when I was invited to the gospel meeting at the church of Christ.” Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21). Are we placing our treasures in heaven?

God bless you, and I love you.
