    Lessons from the Mission Field

This lesson sets forth some lessons learned from my experience in the Mission Field. 1) The poor are always with us, 2) The less one has, the more one values what one does have, 3) A good attitude toward life and work comes from the knowledge that one is serving God. 4) Time is our most important sacrifice. Each member should reflect upon their own attitudes in comparison to those of the brethren in the Mission Field. I want to communicate the idea that it does not take a lot to do a lot.

  • Who Will Enter the Kingdom of Heaven?

What does it take to enter the kingdom of heaven? 1) Faith Only is not Enough, 2) A Semblance of Sanctimony is not Enough, 3) Doing the Will of the Father is Key. Freedom in Christ brings joy when we 1) beware of false identities of the flesh, 2) count all things loss for Christ, 3) identify wholly with Christ. Each listener will be able to understand and explain how joy in Christ comes from freedom from fleshly identities and attitudes. I hope to show from Paul’s life and history that release from fleshly captivities brings joy

  • The Teaching of Christ

Christian unity is based upon the teaching of Christ. We are united as Christians and without the teaching of Christ we are not Christians. This teaching is summarized in the list of seven “ones” in Ephesians 4:4-6. Each person should understand that for us to have unity as Christians we must adhere to the same standards of the teaching of Christ.

    The Baptism of Christ

In this lesson we want to look at the Baptism of Christ. We will note that the Baptism of Christ is: 1) A burial in water. 2) An action of faith. 3) God’s work of righteousness. Everyone needs to be able to discuss what the baptism of Christ is in relationship to the plan of salvation. Not many in the religious world today understand it. But it is part of the great commission and we must preach and teach it. To encourage the brethren to teach others about the Baptism of Christ.

  • The Joy of Faithful Brethren

Faithful brethren are a joy when they exhibit the qualities of Timothy and Epaphroditus. Each listener should understand what qualities God desires in faithful brethren. I want to help people come to appreciate faithful brethren for the right reasons.

Each person should be able to discuss their relationship to Jesus as His disciple and how to pursue that relationship more effectively. I want to encourage all to learn more about Jesus so as to strengthen each as a disciple of Jesus.

We need to understand that it is all about Jesus and make His purposes the center of our life.

  • The Joy of Sacrifice and Service

We have joy in Christ through the sacrifice and service of 1) Obedience, 2) Doing All Things Without Murmuring or Complaining, and 3) Holding Fast the Word of Life. Each person should understand that sacrifice and service bring joy to our lives because we are not focusing on self, but God and others. Ultimately, joy does not come by focusing on ourselves but on God and others.
