First Corinthians Two Through Three – Jesus Christ and Him Crucified

Knowing Christ and Him Crucified means having 1) God’s Wisdom, 2) The Mind of Christ, 3) God’s Temple. The objective of this lesson is to study and learn 1 Corinthians 2-3 in a structured way so as to understand and avoid the divisions of the church in Corinth.

Grace Upon Grace

To know Jesus is to know grace because Jesus was 1) Full of Grace and Truth, 2) The Giver of Grace Upon Grace, and 3) The Revealer of Who God Really Is. In this lesson, the listener should understand that grace comes from and through Jesus Christ because he is the incarnation of grace itself. I hope that with this sermon I can help us be a more gracious people.

The Nature of Biblical Edification (Part 3)

Only the use of verbal communication when combined with spiritual words and an attitude of love can accomplish this task. Knowledge alone does not accomplish this task. Knowledge separated from love does not edify, it merely puffs up (1 Corinthians 8:1). However, biblical edification is the loving impartation of spiritual instruction designed to build up the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the student to the motivation of accomplishing the work of the kingdom.

Arrested for Preaching the Resurrection

In this lesson, we will study Acts 4. The apostles were arrested for preaching the resurrection. How did they handle this? We will note: 1) The Situation of the Arrest, 2) The Steadfastness of the Apostles, 3) The Sentence of the Sanhedrim, 4) The Supplication of the Saints. The hearer will be able to understand how the early church dealt with the problem of preaching the gospel in the face of opposition. We want to know how the early church handled problems so that we can imitate their faith.

The Nature of Biblical Edification (Part 2)

For something to edify, it must have meaning. Not in the sense of emotion or feeling, but in the sense of the understanding. That is, if something is not intelligible or comprehensible by the intellect, then it cannot edify. True edification can only come through a situation where knowledge and instruction are imparted with the attitude of love.
